“I’m Soy Glad We’re Friends” Candles

I’ve always heard the rumor of how easy it is to make soy candles. It’s true folks, it is a breeze. I wasn’t completely sold on making them until I finally found wood wicks online for dirt cheap (because I’m not a fan of regular wicks). I’m not saying mine turned out perfect, because they definitely did not…but I think they turned out to be a great addition to a gift for my bridesmaids.

I was at Urban Outfitters a few months ago and thought these candles were pretty funny…so I took the idea and ran with it. I found the glasses at target for a dollar, put on the sticker, tied the candle up with dried eucalyptus and put it in a brown kraft box I found at Michaels for sixty cents. These were so fun to make and really cost effective…especially since I had quite a few bridesmaids. There are some great tutorials out there for soy candles like this oneand this one. Just a personal tip: be sure to dispose of the wax properly and work on top of newspaper. Otherwise it may clog up your sink, in turn clogging the dishwasher and you’ll be finding wax on the counters and appliances for a while (my bad).

Have you ventured into candle making yet? Once you start, it isn’t easy to stop! Everywhere I go I feel like I’m finding a new vessel that needs to have a wood wick candle in it. 😉
