Scenes from my morning. School was cancelled and we were instructed not to leave our apartments unless it was an emergency. The roads are covered in ice so I am staying in today making bread, relaxing, sewing, and just enjoying time in the quiet and stillness.
Lately from a series of events as well as today being an ice day where most things are closed I have been forced to resort to a simpler way of living. I’m not saying I live a completely simple life…I wish I did where I wasn’t moving so fast because by second nature I tend to move at a fast pace. I was in a wreck two weeks ago and I’m borrowing my brother’s car at the moment but for a week I was without a car. I walked, carpooled with others, and pulled out my longboard. This made me realize I enjoy taking a walk to school and longboarding to the grocery store. I spent less money and put more thought into the planning of my days.
Even though it was only a week, it made me see the pros of just slowing down. I’m thankful that today I get to take things slow again and hopefully implement the slower pace into my daily lifestyle. When I get a car I hope to look back on these learning moments and put them into practice.
I hope you all stay safe today if you are facing icy weather, and if you are living in the warm sunshine just know I am jealous and craving spring and summer really bad.
