I have been reading the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis since summer, I am honestly not the greatest reader. I find it hard to sit down and read a book, especially one like this that has a lot of content and depth. I have taken pages and pages of notes from the book thus far. I just want to write everything down and soak it in completely. I am just a slow reader and normally choose to do something other than curling up with a good book (I’m trying to get better, I promise!!).
Whilst reading, the sentence “For the longest way round is the shortest way home” really just stuck out to me. I read the complete page over a few times to try to grasp what it really meant. This can be applied to so many areas of life but right now, in the season of life I am in it means to not look at the goal and try to find a shortcut. It means not to think greatness comes overnight. It means to take each day a step at a time and to enjoy that, enjoy each day of growth and change that comes. When you take the longest way home (or what seems to be the longest way at the moment) you will arrive at a much better place. Shortcuts may seem appealing right now but in the end you will realize they are setbacks. Embrace where you are now and take each step as it comes. Chase after your dreams but don’t be so deceived to think you can reach those goals overnight. The longest way around is the shortest way home.
I found much more depth and meaning to this sentence but I just wanted to share this one thing with you.
